Frank John English Falco, M.D. — Director
Director Frank John English Falco, M.D. is an innovative pioneer and widely-recognized expert in the field of pain medicine and treating spinal disorders and has headed Mid Atlantic Spine since 1995. Dr. Falco is also the founder and president of Mid Atlantic Spine, a multi-specialty pain management group practice in DE and MD, and the Delmarva Surgery Center located in Elkton, MD.
Dr. Falco is licensed in seven states and is board-certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners, American Board of Pain Medicine, and the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
In addition to practicing medicine at Mid Atlantic Spine and the Delmarva Surgery Center, Dr. Falco is a faculty member at Temple University’s Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department and is Director of Temple’s Physical Medicine Fellowship. He is responsible for a very popular, one-year fellowship program at Mid Atlantic Spine, one of the few pain practices that is ACGME-accredited.
Dr. Falco is a Life Member and Board Member for the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians (ASIPP), is an architect of the highly successful ASIPP Radiology Course, and is an avid participator in the Congressional Hill visits. In addition, Dr. Falco is President of the Delaware Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, a Board Member for the Society of Interventional Pain Management Surgery Centers and serves on the Editorial Board of SpineUniverse. Additional medical associations include: the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the Association of American Physiatrists, the Association of Electrodiagnostic Medicine, the Physiatric Association of Spine, Sports and Occupational Rehabilitation, the American Academy of Pain Medicine, the International Spine Injection Society, the American Society of Regional Anesthesia, the American Medical Association, the Pennsylvania Medical Society, and the Delaware Medical Society.
Dr. Falco first received a Bachelors of Chemical Engineering from Villanova University before entering medical school. After earning his medical degree at Temple University Medical School in Philadelphia, Dr. Falco received specialty training in spine and sports medicine and in physical medicine and rehabilitation. He interned with St. Luke's Hospital in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and completed a physical medicine and rehabilitation residency with Temple University Hospital as Chief Resident. Additionally Dr. Falco completed spine and sports medicine fellowships with Southeastern Orthopedic Associates in Pensacola, Florida and Georgia Spine and Sports Physicians in Smyrna, Georgia. He has received numerous awards and honors, including the Sixth Richard W. Stow PhD Visiting Lectureship, Top Quartile Parts I and II, Excellence of Research Writing Award, the Dorthea Daniels Glass MD Award and Intern of the Year among many others.
Dr. Falco has authored about his research in in countless published scientific articles and book chapters and books, including "Clinical Orientation to Spinal Anatomy", "Lumbar Spine Disorders", "Three Pathways between the Sacroiliac Join and Neural Structures" and others. He lectures nationally and internationally, and serves as a medical expert witness for the National Association of State Jury.
Prior to Mid Atlantic Spine, Dr. Falco practiced as a physiatrist with Georgia Spine and Sports Physicians.
