MASSP Jie Zhu, M.D. Promoted to Principal of Pain Practice

NEWARK, DE - (July 1, 2008) - Mid Atlantic Spine and Pain Physicians (MASPP), the most comprehensive pain practice in the U.S diagnosing and treating spine and pain related disorders, is pleased to announce that Jie Zhu, M.D. has been promoted to a Principal in the practice. A member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine Rehabilitation, Dr. Zhu is board certified and holds state medical licenses in Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York. He joins Principals Frank J. E. Falco, M.D. and C. Obi Onyewu, M.D.

Dr. Zhu completed medical school at the Capital University of Medical Sciences in Beijing, a surgeon residency at the Beijing Heart, Lung and Blood Vessel Medical Center at AbZhen Hospital, and began his medical career as a heart surgeon. Upon relocating to the U.S., Dr. Zhu attended graduate school at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania and obtained a M.S. degree. He worked as a Research Assistant for the Department of Psychiatry at the Medical College of Pennsylvania and for the Department of OB/GYN and GCRC for Temple University prior to becoming a Surgeon Assistant for Beth Israel Medical Center. Dr. Zhu next interned for the Department of Surgery at the Episcopal Hospital of Philadelphia and completed a physical medicine and rehabilitation residency at Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, NY. He then completed a one-year fellowship for interventional pain management with Mid Atlantic Spine and Pain Physicians prior to becoming a staff physician of the practice.
