Medical Laboratory Technologist

Mid Atlantic Spine, a well-recognized physical medicine and rehabilitation group practice specializing in the treatment of spine and pain related disorders, has an immediate opening for two (2) full-time Medical Laboratory Technologist to provide clinical laboratory services, including laboratory tests and phlebotomy, on outpatient specimens of group practice.

Job Description:
Under the general supervision of the Director of Nursing or designee, the Medical Laboratory Technologist analyzes and evaluates patient specimen – preparing samples for testing, interpreting results, and providing consultation to physicians – ensuring laboratory results are reported accurately and in a timely manner. Scope of testing will include chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, and coagulation derived from patient specimens for the purpose of providing information for the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment, or the assessment of, the health of patients. Position requires the ability to develop, evaluate, and perform laboratory procedures using a high degree of independent judgment, as well as, integrity and accuracy in test performance and reporting of results. Daily responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 1) specimen collection, handling, and processing as well as test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of test results; 2) identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and must either correct the problem or notify supervisor ; 3) adhering to quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance; and 4) offering quality laboratory skills and generating a warm and friendly atmosphere for patients and employees.

Requirements:
Qualified candidates must have an associates, bachelor degree preferred and completion of approved training program for Medical Technologist (MT or MLT certification). Required skills included clinical chemistry and hematology/coagulation. Minimum of 3-5 years experience in an accredited laboratory; hospital clinical laboratory experience preferred. Knowledge of good laboratory practices and familiarity with all clinical laboratory disciplines preferred. Familiarity of OSHA chemical hygiene and blood borne pathogen regulations. Basic computer skills are essential. Some travel between clinical offices may be required. Successful candidate(s) should also be a hard working, reliable, energetic team player with excellent oral and written communication skills, able to multitask in a confidential work environment.
