Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy helps
the natural healing processes in a patient to work faster and better, creating an environment in which missing or damaged tissue that would not ordinarily have regrown in fact regenerates fully. It is the process of creating living, functional tissues to repair or replace tissue or organ function lost due to age, disease, damage, or congenital defects — regenerating damaged tissues and organs in the body by stimulating previously irreparable organs to heal themselves.

Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy also empowers scientists and physicians to grow tissues and organs in the laboratory and safely implant them when the body cannot heal itself. Importantly, regenerative medicine has the potential to solve the problem of the shortage of organs available for donation compared to the number of patients that require life-saving organ transplantation, as well as solve the problem of organ transplant rejection, since the organ's cells will match that of the patient.

Current estimates indicate that approximately one in three Americans could benefit from Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy. With autologous (the person's own) cells, there is no risk of the immune system rejecting the cells.

Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy
The use of a patient's own plasma to treat certain spine and pain disorders can be safely infused back into that individual, without being rejected by the body's immune system, to treat the condition and trigger healing.

Plasma contains unprogrammed cells in the human body that can continue dividing forever and can change into other types of cells. Because stem cells can become bone, muscle, cartilage and other specialized types of cells, they have the potential to treat many diseases, including Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, diabetes and cancer. They are found in embryos at very early stages of development (embyonic stem cells) and in some adult organs, such as bone marrow and brain (adult stem cells).
